What is a live, call-in auction?

A call-in auction is an auction where people place bids from the comfort of their home while the auction is broadcast live on tv, radio and/or the internet. An auctioneer will showcase a group of items for a set amount of time, and bidders can call in to place bids on those items. When the group ends, so does bidding for that group, and the bidders can begin bidding on items from the next group. They can watch the auction to view the items and keep track of the current high bids.
